Information You Enter
Search terms
When a visitor types a name or other detail into a third-party finder tool, the input is sent to the provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request under its own privacy terms. Virginia Beach City Warrant Records does not store or log those search terms on its own servers.
Messages
If a visitor emails the site, the message is retained so it can be read and answered. It is not shared outside the team unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Technical Visit Data
When a page loads, the site may receive basic technical information about the visit, including an IP address, browser and version, device type, operating system, pages viewed, time on each page, referring site, and timestamps.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a visitor’s device. Analytics services may use them to measure traffic, find pages that need work, and understand where visitors leave. Browser settings can block cookies, though some site features may then work differently.
How the Information Is Used
Information described above may be used for ordinary site operation and maintenance. This can include:
- Keeping pages available and improving load speed.
- Sending a finder-tool query to its provider.
- Reviewing which pages visitors use.
- Finding and fixing technical problems.
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
No Warrant Database Is Hosted
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of Virginia Beach warrants or personal warrant information. It offers general directions to OCIS, the General District and Circuit clerks, the magistrate, police, and Sheriff. Those public offices control their own records and access rules. Nothing collected about visitors is assembled here into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Outside Search Providers
Finder boxes may be operated by outside companies. A query entered there is handled under the provider’s privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing terms. The site does not control how a provider processes data or what it charges. Read that provider’s notice before submitting information.
Links Leave This Site
Links may lead to Virginia courts, city offices, the Sheriff, Crime Solvers, state agencies, or outside search services. Once a visitor opens another service, its privacy rules apply. Review those terms before sending personal details.
Advertising partners may also use their own systems to measure activity across sites. That tracking does not occur on the Virginia Beach court or OCIS system through this policy.
Who May Receive Data
The site does not sell personal data. Depending on a visitor’s use, information may be processed by:
- The search provider handling a finder query.
- Analytics services measuring site use.
- Advertising networks placing ads.
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand.
Safeguarding Visitor Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information held by the site. Internet systems still carry risk, and no online service can promise that a breach will never occur. Visitors should avoid placing sensitive identifiers in an email or general web form.
Children Under 18
This reference service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor has sent information to the site, the parent may contact the site so the information can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Your Information Choices
A visitor may ask what information the site holds about that visitor, request a correction, ask for deletion, or object to certain processing. Any response depends on what is actually held and applicable law. These choices do not apply to court files or police records held by the City of Virginia Beach.
For public records held by a city agency, Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act, including Va. Code § 2.2-3704, sets request and response rules. It does not require the city to create a new warrant list, answer questions, or disclose records protected by law. Contact the relevant public office for its process.
Policy Updates
The policy may change as site practices change. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date. Visitors should review this page from time to time.
